SHANTI NILAYA

ANCHECHITTANAHALLI, NAGAMANAGALA

All the Apostles through their faith and commitment became partakers in the mission of Christ. It was with the same missionary spirit that Rev. Fr Abraham Chempottickal MST came to Nagamangala, in Mandya district, on 23rd April 1990, to join them through his life and unflinching faith, commitment, witnessing and proclamation. Nagamangala, one of the Taluk headquarters, is about 40 km away from Mandya. It is a centre for many villages around. The natural beauty attracts many. Understanding the various needs of the people from the villages FrAbraham looked for a chance to start a mission station in any of the villages nearby. In 1993 Fr Jose Chempottickal bought a piece of land at Anchechittanahalli, a village ten kilometres away from Nagamangala. On August 18, 1994 Rev. Sisters of Snehagiri Missionary (S.M.S.)

Congregation came here to assist in the missionary apostolate. On 8th January 1997 Rev.Fr George Mullappally blessed the newly constructed convent. His Excellency Mar Sebastian Vadakel, the Bishop of Ujjain, blessed the newly built priest's quarters on 23rd October 1998. The mission station at Anchechittanahalli was named Shantinilaya - the abode of peace. Shanti Youth and Women Organizations, Shanti

Tailoring Centre, Shanti Prayer Centre, Shanti Creche, Small saving schemes, etc are the organized forms of apostolates. On May1st 2000 Shanti Mahila Welfare Society and the V-Guard Assembling Unit was inaugurated by Mr Chenne Gowda, the small scale industries Officer. This initiative gave job opportunities to 15- 20 poor village girls and this was really a blessing to the poor families of this area.

Jesus, the first and the true missionary should be the model and source of inspiration for all of us in our missionary endeavour. "We wish to see Jesus" (In 12:21) is a request made by some Greeks to Philip. The demand of the people of this millennium is not going to be a different one than this. "Show us Jesus" - will be their request to each and every missionary. The integrity of personality and unadulterated convictions on one's own mission are essential to become another Christ to people. By humbling himself, Jesus redeemed the whole world. From Him we learn to put limits to our own lives and perform our actions with a totally detached mind. Thus we will be the apt persons who have grown up to reflect Christ through our lives and thus become a source of inspiration and bring many souls under the shelter of 'His Love'.
